luck out – be enexpected lucky, to have a good fortune.

We lucked out when we met each other.
Jim wasn’t prepared to give a report, but he lucked out because the meeting was postponed.
The US economy lucked out for most of the decade.
I lucked out and found the last parking spot in the lot.
