Put off – delay, postpone
Put off paying the bills.

Postpone – to put off or delay until a future time
The baseball game has been postponed till tomorrow.

I think we’ll have to delay making the announcement.
I think we’ll have to reschedule the meeting.

Put something on the back burner ~ ; delay
I think we should put this project on the back burner.
